Waze
Traffic in a highway during busy hours in Doha, Qatar – 11/21/2019Looking for a reliable navigation app in Doha? Google Maps might lead you slightly astray at times (or headed for a desert detour), so you’re better off testing your luck with Waze.
Not only does it give live traffic updates to help you plan when you’ll actually arrive, but it also nails directing you through those tricky exits or *that* random looped overpass that no one understands.
You can download the application on iOS and Android.
When it comes to staying in touch, WhatsApp is the go-to app in Doha. Don’t expect a text or iMessage — if someone’s trying to reach you, it’s probably landing in your WhatsApp messages.
But fair warning: if you’re trying to make calls through the app, you’ll need a VPN (yes, that goes for FaceTime too), most voice and video calls are blocked in Doha.
