Easy steps to renewing your Emirates ID

If the answer is yes, then you need to know about these five simple steps that’ll help you get your card quickly.

Normally, it takes about a working week to get your Emirates ID and there are some things you can do to ensure that time isn’t extended.

The Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security UAE posted on X all the steps that can smooth the process.

How to renew your Emirates ID

Submit your fingerprint data on time

Get your biometrics taken within 30 days of your application date. Usually, you don’t need to do this unless you are new to the city, but if you’ve been in the system for over 10 years, you might be asked to rescan your fingerprints. Everyone over the age of 15 must submit their fingerprints.

Wondering how to book an appointment?

When applying for your Emirates ID, you can book an appointment at an ICP Customer Happiness Centre. If you are applying for a visa yourself, you can book a slot through the ICP website.

Sort out your medical insurance

In Dubai, the sponsor is legally responsible for getting the medical insurance. Once this is sorted, you need to complete the procedures of your residence visa (such as a medical test).

Put the applicant’s correct telephone number

This is a very, very important step, as this is the number through which you’ll get status updates – including when your Emirates ID is ready for pick up.

Keep an eye on the SMS that will help you keep track of which point of the process your application is at.

Check the dates on your passport

Your passport must be valid for more than six months when you apply for your Emirates ID. It’s located on the first page of your passport, along with the information on when and where the document was approved.

Make modifications in time

The authority calls for any modifications to the applications that need to be made to be made within 30 days.
