Residents  of Morogoro District are living in constant fear due to wandering wild animals in residential areas as the animals’ territories have been destroyed by the human activities.
Speaking to journalists, in Ngong'olo village, Morogoro District, immediately after the villagers killed a lion that had threatened their lives, Ande Malango, the Morogoro District Wildlife Officer said there has been an increased trend of herders invading habitats for wild animals with their cattle. 
“This has made some wild animals leave their natural habitats and wandering in the community,” said Malango.
Malango adding that the problem persist for sometime before a permanent solution is found, calling people to be cautious as some wild animals have reached the Eastern Arch of the Mountains whereby the Ngong’olo hamlet is just behind the mountains.
For his part, the Ngong'olo village chairperson, Thones Mbena, said on on Saturday, as he was going to the Village Community Bank (Vicoba) office, he received information that a lion was spotted in his village, and therefore he sought assistance from a villager known as Linus Lyela, who owned a gun, and thus successfully killed the lion.
He said apart from seeking Lyela's support, he also informed the Pangawe Village Chairperson, who in turn sought for further support from the District Wildlife Department.
Avent Jonas, a resident at the hamlet, who narrowly escaped from being killed by the lion in the process of hunting him down, said as they were searching for the lion, he suddenly came face to face with the animal thus quickly climbed to a tree to save his life.
Incidents of wild animals invading people's residences have been on the rise, whereby earlier last week in Kinole Ward; a lion was killed after having threatened lives of the villagers of Mwalazi, Bamba and others.
